Small Businesses often experience the requirement for an Application or Service to help them manage Invoicing, Suppliers and simple ERP Processes.

Madeira from Microsoft is the internal codename for a new Service that will do just that, providing a Cloud-First platform to help basic ERP operations for 10 – 100 employee businesses.

This will be positioned as a lower-scale product to the existing ERP Products in the Dynamics Range for Navision, Great Plains and Axapta – and be a Cloud-only service that can be offered as a new Application within Office 365 and so built directly into Outlook, which is great for small businesses already using Office 365 as having an Invoicing and Supplier Management built directly into your Email and Services Platform is great for ‘keeping-it-simple’ in the Small Business World.

Madeira will also provide basic CRM through Opportunity Management, again to allow small businesses to manage a basic Opportunity to Order to Invoice process.

From a Technical Perspective, Madeira is a solely Cloud-Offering based on Azure and Azure DB, and so represents one of the next steps in Microsoft’s Cloud-First / Mobile-First direction.

At CRMCS, we will be watching and previewing Madeira with interest to see how this competes with Dynamics CRM and NAV for customers with smaller simpler requirements from their CRM and ERP.

For now, Project Madeira exists as a public preview – the service is scheduled to become generally available in the U.S. during the second half of 2016, with other countries and the UK to follow
