Release Wave 2 New column options in grid view page

As we know to edit columns in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, this needs to be done from the from accessing the views from either customising the system section or by using a solution.

The views section will allow us to alter or edit the way in which we see the columns from the front end of the CRM.

Microsoft has added a new tool which makes this process easier. A user no longer has to go through creating a solution or customising the system from the back end in order to alter or edit the views in ways the columns will appear.

New Columns Button

This new Edit Column Tool allows users to edit the views of the columns straight from the view that is in front of them.

As we can see above the user has the following Name and Website Columns available for competitors.

A user is now able to edit these by selecting the tool at the top right near the search bar and this opens the Edit Columns tab which allows a user to add and remove columns.

For example, a user can add the date created of these competitors as a column.

A user can select from multiple columns they wish to add to those that are existing.

In our example we are using the date created so we can either search for it at the top or scroll down and look for it. Once we have selected created on, we apply at the bottom of the tab.

As we can see this will now add the Column we have selected.

This can be done for multiple columns. A user can also edit, move the position, or delete the column they no longer need.

This tool is also available within Power Apps and has the same functionality.

Overall, the new edit functionality comes in handy when users are working on a certain project, and they only need to view specific columns that are relating to what they are working on. Another point to take on this is that the changing of the view is not permanent as it will change back to default once the page has been refreshed.
