Dynamics 365 offers a full suite of Marketing functionality via the Marketing 1st Party App, however if we are using Sales or Service, we can still use Quick Campaigns to send out a set of Emails as a mass communication.
If we use Email as the example media we want to use, then we start with an Email Template.
We can create a new Email Template from Advanced Settings –> Templates –> Email Templates – this will show us our initial set of Email Templates and offer the option to create a New Template.

One key element when creating the Template is to set the Template Type away from ‘Global’ and to ‘Contact’ or ‘Lead’ depending on the type of people we will be emailing out to – this will let us include SLUGs or Dynamic Fields for {firstname} or {lastname} as required.

With this Template in place – we can open our Marketing List and add a new Quick Campaign:

This will take us through the Wizard where we can pick the Type of Activity we want to produce – and if we opt for Email, we can select our Email Template to use in the Email.

As we go through the Wizard, we will get the option to ‘Use Template’ and then pick which Template we want to use.
Note that if we do not see our new Template here, this may be where the Template Type does not match the Type of Recipients we are marketing to (i.e. Leads, Contacts or Companies).

But all being well we should be able to pick our template and so send out an Email to each of our Recipients with the Template Content and Dynamic Fields in place.
Once we have our Template and From set – we will notice that the Subject and Body of the Email comes from the Template and so will be locked.

We can click NEXT and then CREATE to finish and send out our Emails – we will then see these in our Inboxes:

This functionality does not give us the range of options that Dynamics 365 Marketing gives us – but it is a quick and simple way to get bulk emails or other activities sent out in Dynamics.
