Adding a DocMan Panel to a Form

Once we have configured the Rules for an Entity in the DocMan Configuration area, we will usually want to drop a DocMan Panel onto the Form in Dynamics to allow the User to view, upload and work with Documents for Records of that Entity.

We can add this Panel to Dynamics in the following steps:

1. Open the Form Editor for that Entity

2. Access the Insert Tab of the Form Editor Ribbon, and click to add a Web Resource.

3. For the Add Web Resource options, we can specify:

General Tab Web Resource crmcs_DocManPanel
Name Can be any Name we want to choose..
Custom Parameters We can leave this blank, but see below for more information.
Pass record object-type code and unique identifier as parameters. Ticked for YES
Formatting Tab Number of Rows Usually between 8 and 15
Scrolling Never, DocMan will take care of this internally.
Display Border? No, appears better on the Form without a Border

NOTE: If we are using the Unified Interface in Dynamics 365 – then we must have ‘Pass record object-type code and unique identifier as parameters.’ Ticked as YES for the Panel to load correctly.  If we are using the Web Client then this is not required.

Once done, we can click OK to confirm the Web Resource on the Form.

4. In the Form Editor, click Save and then Publish.

5. That’s it!  The Panel will then appear for Users working with Records of that Entity and Form.

The Panel will load into the Form and read your DocMan Configuration for the Entity to control how SharePoint Documents are integrated into Dynamics.

Custom Parameters

The Webresource we add for the DocMan Panel allows us to specify a number of Custom Parameters to further customise the appearance and view of the Documents.

Using this configuration, we can add multiple DocMan Panels to a Form and then specify what type of content we want the Panel to display:

The article here details the types of Custom Parameters that can be used.
